TV presenter Andrew O’Keefe has been involuntarily inpatient at a Sydney hospital since he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, a court heard

The 49-year-old was charged with joint attacks after NSW police were called to a unit in Randwick in the city’s eastern suburbs in late January

His attorney, Kara Greiner, handed a letter to Waverley District Court today, indicating that Mr. O’Keefe is being treated at the Prince of Wales Hospital

Quoting the letter, Magistrate Ross Hudson said Mr. O’Keefe had been there since Jan. January was an involuntary patient

Ms. Greiner told the court at the next hearing in April that Mr. O’Keefe would request that the matter be dealt with under mental health legislation

After that mention, another lawyer, Claudette Chua, told the media that he was “not the attacker” claiming that Dr Lavee had “a lot to answer for”

Following his arrest, a statement from Seven said the company was “very concerned” about reading reports about the incident, given his 17-year relationship with Mr. O’Keefe

“The Chase Australia is currently out of production,” reads the statement published in early February

“Production will resume soon and a decision about who will host future series has yet to be made”
