Judd Trump resisted a fight by the resilient Jack Lisowski to secure the World Grand Prix title for the second time in three editions in Milton Keynes

Trump won six of the eight frames in the first session of the finals on Sunday and then extended his lead to 7-2 before his opponent closed the gap with breaks of 99, 112, 87 and 95 at the Marshall Arena

A break of 57 stopped the putrefaction and after that Trump was able to get a little runny again The world number one finished a 10-7 win and became only the sixth player in snooker history to win 20 ranked titles

“In the end it was an extremely good game, Jack made it very difficult for me and played one of the best snookers I have ever seen,” said Trump

“Everything he saw went in, which put me under a lot of pressure in the end, I had to get some really good releases

“It was super tough in the end, but it was a fun game, we both played to a very high standard, I thought,”

The 29-year-old Lisowski has never won a ranking event and this was only his second final However, Trump believes his beaten opponent, who slashes a 7-2 deficit to 7-6, has the qualities his current 15th Position in the rankings to improve rankings

“If he continues to play by that standard, he’ll undoubtedly be in the top four or five in no time,” Trump said

Trump suffered an agonizing loss to Neil Robertson in the British Championship showcase earlier this month The Bristol potter admitted that he “bottled”

But he was in electric shape overall this season when he got his hands on his third title

“I was a bit lucky to just win a couple of events and I blew that out of the water,” added Trump, 31,

“It’s probably the best start I’ve ever made to a season, and there isn’t really much that I can improve

“I just have to keep trying to play at this level, to keep the ambition, the hunger, the enjoyment and hopefully more success”
