With the NRL season less than a month away, fans are still unsure of what Cameron Smith is up to in 2021

There is a high likelihood that he sailed into retirement and moved to the Gold Coast hinterland with no formal departure

However, there is a part of me that thinks I will play another season – with the Gold Coast Titans

Smith has always been a one-of-a-kind athlete and is usually criticized for his decisions and actions. As a protected species and third referee, it would not be impossible to sign a contract until a few weeks before the season starts

He will be in great shape by now and would only take a few weeks of training and playtime to get fit

Furthermore, signing a deal with the Titans could allow Smith to cement his legacy as the GOAT of the NRL With the likes of Andrew Fifita and Tino Fa’asuamaleaui strengthening the striker package, the combo of Jamal Fogarty and Ash Taylor, who looks amazing, and with the emergence of young stars AJ Brimson and Moeaki Fotuaika, Smith can join the club knowing they are a shot to reach the finals and possibly the top 4

Rumor has it that ex-Brisbane hooker Andrew McCullough’s recent signing with the Dragons will allow Smith to sign a one-year deal with the Broncos. But there’s not that much to gain for Smith from joining the Broncos signs, especially regarding his legacy

Despite their terrible 2020 season, Brisbane has always been a strong NRL team with Premierships and Origin players, if Smith signed a deal at Red Hill and took them from wooden spoons to final contestants, it would be compared to him taking the Gold Coast to the final or led to a first premiere, fade

As an NRL fan, I’d love to see Smith work with the Gold Coast Titans for another year and get them into the Premier League
