Former West Coast star Daniel Kerr was arrested after allegedly setting fire to a house in Kardinya on Wednesday afternoon
The Brownlow Medal runner-up, whose father Roger lives in the area, reportedly set fire to his house in Exley Close around 4 p.m. Shortly afterwards, employees of the Ministry of Fire and Rescue Services were present
Washington police said in a statement that arson detectives charged a man with house fire
“The fire brigade and rescue service personnel reacted to the fire at this point in time
“A 37-year-old man connected to the property was arrested a short time later in Cottesloe and charged with criminal damage from fire”
Nine News Perth reporter Lucy McLeod said the damage from the fire wasn’t too bad, with the majority in the back of the house
“There’s a hole in the door and one of the windows. There’s a damaged blind,” she told Radio 6PR
Kerr was denied bail and is due to appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court on Thursday
Last August, Kerr was tried on charges of aggravated prosecution and violating an order to limit violence
He made headlines in February after he was found unresponsive and drunk on Hannan Street in Kalgoorlie
The midfielder made 220 appearances for the West Coast and was part of the club’s Premier League in 2006 before retiring in 2013
