Star on Disney Plus lands in homes across Australia later today, for those who signed up for the existing Disney Plus service, that means a huge amount of additional content – twice as much – with a small price increase

This is Disney’s quest to improve its streaming service, moving it from a center for family-friendly movies and TV shows to a broader service that can rival Netflix in the entertainment streaming arena

Star aims to achieve this by offering a wide mix of old and new shows and films, Star on Disney Plus will show its own originals, mostly from US production companies like FX, ABC and 20th Century Fox Four of these are available on launch day

Rick and Morty’s Justin Roiland co-created a new animated series about a group of extraterrestrials trying to fit into American suburban life. After launching on Hulu in the US last year, we’re very excited to see the series can now also be seen in other areas

Outside of the US, Solar Opposites ranked as a Disney Plus Star Original, the show has already proven popular enough to deserve both seasons two and three If you’re a fan of Rick and Morty you’ll be delighted to learn that she really isn’t a million miles away from humor when it comes to her type

As one of the first adult-oriented original shows on Disney Plus, Big Sky has a lot to do in the shows, private detectives Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) team up with Cody’s estranged wife and ex-cop Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick) after two sisters who were kidnapped in Montana

It soon becomes clear that this crime is related to several other missing girls in the area, and it becomes a race against time to stop this monster before it’s too late. Created by David E. Kelley (The Practice, Big Little Lies), we have high hopes for this

Buffy the Vampire Slayer – with the equally excellent spin-off Angel – is traveling on 23 February to Star Launch After Disney Plus Does that make Buffy a Disney princess? Let the lengthy discourse begin!

As with all shows over 20 years old, some parts of Buffy are holding up less well than others.Nevertheless, the show remains a phenomenal supernatural teen drama that really does its best in the first three seasons of high school, though the remaining four seasons still have remarkable moments to offer, they are increasingly overwhelmed by dramas for adults and are therefore less fun

Another show from creator – and future Avengers director – Joss Whedon, who has turned into an intricate character these days, this sci-fi western runs just 14 episodes and follows the ragged crew of spaceship Serenity as they try to make a living to earn in a galaxy controlled by a totalitarian government

The series was inspired by cowboy bebop and is great fun even if it ends well before it reaches its full potential you suspect that if it had been done for another channel or for streaming services years later, Could Run for Five Fantastic Seasons The follow-up Serenity (not on Disney Plus because it was made by Universal) is a worthy, if depressing, close-up of the show

JJ Abrams’ spy series is classic 00s television – at least for the first two seasons; then it begins to lose momentum. The series with Jennifer Garner is about a secret agent who believes she works for the US government, but actually works for an Illuminati-like terrorist organization called SD-6

Alias, gradually fitting into Da Vinci-influenced conspiracies and great science fiction ideas, definitely gets lost at some point, although it seems a bit out of date and the many obvious “international” attitudes are clearly just in disguise from Los Angeles it’s extremely entertaining

Set in the same universe as the hit movie Love, Simon, the new Hulu-produced series Love, Victor finds another teenage student (Michael Cimino, not to be confused with the late director of The Deer Hunter) to join his own struggles self-discovery and sexual identity while navigating a new town and school. Fortunately, he can occasionally ask Simon (Nick Robinson) for help

Have you tried watching Lost again since it ended in 2010? It’s a fascinating experience. This mysterious drama about the survivors of a plane crash landing on a mysterious island looks incredible even in HD years later, thanks to the filming on location in Hawaii. It’s a really simple watch too, a blessed one with the 40-minute episodes Relief in an age of hours of chapters on streaming services

By crashing and burning multiple times during the run, Lost learned a ton of lessons about serialized storytelling so other shows didn’t have to – none of the series’ copycats could capture the same magic Lost had too many characters, too many puzzles, and entire episodes that had no forward momentum – but at best it made for intelligent and extremely compelling science fiction television

Is there ever a bad time to look at the X files? It’s been a staple of Amazon Prime Video for some time in many countries, but Disney Plus will soon be Mulder and Scully’s new home. Those who’ve seen the show will know the deal: it’s mostly great when it is monster-of-the-week stories; but mostly bad when the mythological elements come to the fore if you’ve never seen it before this is the perfect time to get involved

Is Prison Break Really Good? That’s a tough question. When he arrives after tightly serialized dramas like Lost, he follows Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) as he tries to get his brother Linc (Dominic Purcell), who is on death row, out of jail before leaving will be executed The turn? Scofield has the entire prison map tattooed on his body. Every week this plot device is used to bring the duo one step closer to freedom, at least that’s the plot of the first season; then it changes quite a bit

Here’s the thing: if you name a show “Prison Break,” you’ll have to keep getting the characters back to jail after they escape, which is an issue that this show doesn’t deal with as well. Still, the first two are Seasons incredibly fun – but is it good? Fifteen years after we first saw it, we’re still not sure

Bob’s Burgers, one of the best animated family sitcoms since The Simpsons, follows the eccentric Belcher family that consists of parents Bob (H Jon Benjamin) and Linda (John Roberts) along with their three precocious children Tina (Dan Mintz), Gene (Eugene Mirman) and Louise (Kristen Schaal) Bob and his family fight a competing restaurant and fight to get their burger restaurant over To hold water
