A recall of Woolworths frozen shrimp has been extended to all Australian states and territories except Queensland

The recall was for a 1 kg bag of frozen boiled and peeled shrimp cocktails from Woolworths with a best before date of Jan. Issued February 2022

It was originally limited to stores in Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory and Western Australia, as well as Woolworth’s Metro stores in Victoria

Later on Wednesday afternoon, Food Standards Australia and New Zealand expanded it to three more jurisdictions

“This recall has been expanded to include sales to Woolworths branches in NSW, TAS and ACT,” it says

The recall of the shrimp is due to possible microbial contamination which can lead to disease if eaten

“Our range of fresh prawns is not affected by the recall and is absolutely safe for our customers to enjoy Christmas”, they told 7NEWScomau

Customers who purchased the prawns can return for a full refund. Those who purchased the prawns with a logged Woolworths Rewards card will be contacted individually

Anyone who has eaten the shrimp and feels uncomfortable is advised to seek medical advice
