According to Waterloo Public Health, two COVID-19 outbreaks have been redefined in the area, linking one to hockey and another to racket sports

Initially, the agency reported the outbreaks simply as “Sports and Fitness,” but a spokesperson for Waterloo Public Health told Global News, “We wanted to make sure the definitions represent the different types of facilities and activities that might be affected ”

“As we get more information on the dashboard and confidentiality is less of an issue because there are more examples, let’s try to paint a picture of what is going on in the community”

The hockey-related outbreak began on Nov. 16 and has now been linked to six cases, while the racket-related outbreak has grown to 15 cases

Two new outbreaks were reported on Friday, including one in the trade and related services sector in three cases and one related to the food and beverage industry in two cases

The region has 20 active outbreaks as one in an office and one associated with the construction industry have been declared over

Waterloo Public Health reported 39 new positive tests for the coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the region to 2911 increased

At the same time, another 55 people were freed from the virus, bringing the total number of cases resolved to 2456 increased

The number of active cases has dropped to 331, although there are currently 22 people in local hospitals due to the virus

Ontario reported on Friday 1418 new cases of coronavirus – as the province has more than 100 since the pandemic beganHas 000 cumulative cases – and increased the total number of provinces to 100790

According to the provincial report on Friday, 400 cases were recorded in the Peel area, 393 in Toronto, 168 in the York area and 77 in Ottawa

The death toll in the province is at 3451 increased as eight more deaths were reported
