The family of the DeKalb district sheriff’s office mourns Lt Bain He served in law enforcement for more than 30 years

“It will be difficult for the next few days. It is definitely the hardest thing I have faced during my time as sheriff,” said Sheriff Nick Welden

“You don’t just lose a lieutenant, you don’t just lose a deputy, you lose a family member and that’s exactly what it is and what it feels like to have lost a family member,” said Welden

“If you had any questions, you could call him anytime and he would have the answer and lead you in the right direction,” said Welden

Sarah Chamblee of CASA of North Sand Mountain, a group that works to help children in Jackson and DeKalb Counties who have become victims of abuse, said when she could help paint and put shelves for her closet needed clothes for children in need that would eventually be filled, Lt Bain stepped forward

“He organized that, got the crew down there, and did it in one day,” said Chamlee

Chamlee stated that his help will have an impact on children for years to come. Meanwhile, Sheriff Welden said his legacy of law enforcement commitment will fuel their office

“That is exactly what he would expect from us in order to move forward and do our work, because there are people out there who need us,” said Welden
