REGINA –
Monday is Family Day in Saskatchewan and the provincial government is reminding the public to safely celebrate during the pandemic

The province said public health measures still need to be followed while on vacation, suggesting limiting all plans to immediate household members, spending more time outdoors, and staying close to home by not traveling

Groups of up to 10 people can congregate outdoors as long as physical distance between different households can be maintained, the province said food should not be shared between non-household members

For those looking to get out of the house, Regina has a few safe options

The RCMP Heritage Center offers all day indoor and outdoor activities for all ages

“Last year came 1185 people and we clearly cannot support that [this year], “said Justin Williams, Education and Public Programs Coordinator at the RCMP Heritage Center.” We’re going to see a lot less capacity and a lot fewer visitors, we think. But when the people come and the Want to enjoy the day, we have many logs ”

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina is open to limited people. Calling to be placed on the waiting list is recommended. Visitors will receive a call or text back when it is their turn

For those who want to stay at home and still party, Mystery Mansion Regina offers virtual escape rooms on this family day.People from all over the world can join in

Mitch Bresciani, co-owner and manager of Mystery Mansion, said this was a perfect opportunity to connect with friends and family in other locations and solve the escape rooms together

Groups call through Zoom, and a Mystery Mansion representative is physically in the room providing a live feed.At the same time, attendees can contact the host and tell them what to do, where to go, and how to deal with the Space should interact

“We switched some of our rooms from physical to online, but there are some rooms that we built from the ground up to be online So there are some really cool things you couldn’t do in a physical escape room, ”said Bresciani.“ It protects you 100 percent and you can play from the comfort of your home ”

As the province encourages people to go outside more, Saskatchewan’s provincial parks are also open for Family Day, and offer a range of activities for those willing to brave the cold
