Stephanie Grisham, chief of staff for Melania Trump, has resigned. She is leaving her position “effective immediately,” according to CNN’s Kate Bennett
Grisham is the first high-profile member of the Trump administration to leave on Wednesday since the pro-Trump insurgent riots began in Washington, DC.
“It has been an honor to serve the country in the White House I am very proud to have been a part of Ms. Trump’s mission to help children everywhere and proud of the many accomplishments of that administration,” Grisham said in one Statement to ABC News
The rioters tried to stop the electoral college vote counting confirming President-elect Joe Biden’s victory over President Donald Trump in the November 2020 election. Biden defeated Trump in the elections, but Trump has urged his supporters to vote Not accepting results and denying the reality of his loss
Grisham was the most famous first lady defender in public and one of her closest aides.She joined the Trump campaign in 2015 and entered the administration at the start of Trump’s tenure in 2017. She initially served under the press secretary of the White House, Sean Spicer, before joining the FLOTUS team in March 2017, where she became their top spokesperson
Grisham replaced Lindsay Reynolds as Melania Trump’s chief of staff in 2020 while continuing to hold the spokesperson role from July 2019 to April 2020, she also served as President Trump’s press officer and communications director
