Ronald emerges from his farmhouse on a dreary day, the brackets still in his forehead He takes the black Tesla Model 3 that belonged to Father Ted Maynord, whom he just killed, and hides it in a makeshift garage He goes back inside and mumbles, “Too much to do. This is how the ninth episode of Big Sky on ABC begins, titled” Let It Be Him “

Ronald is soldering something at his workbench with 12-year-old Erik, who is locked in a roll cage in the basement, a dangerous act because he recently covered the basement with what appears to be gasoline. Erik is still clutching the taser he is stole, and tells Ronald about a serial killer who fell off the hook because he only killed people nobody cared about, but killing a child would likely have him killed by a prison inmate. Angry, Ronald pulls a gun on him Word, “he threatens the boy

We find Merilee in the house she shared with her husband, Officer Rick Legarski, and we walk up the stairs to look into the eyes of his cardboard clipping. She has a happy memory of how he sang when They set the table for lunch In his hospital bed, Rick has a nightmare where his bed is surrounded by the women he’s been trading with, including Jerrie He starts crying, facing what he’s done and says: “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry, it just got out of hand,” Merilee wakes him up and asks, “Who did you apologize to?” Rick talked in his sleep, his eyes watered, but he tells her he was don’t know

Brass-rich lawyer Penelope walks into the room and Merilee tells her what just happened Penelope takes Merilee out for a private interview where she asks her if she will stay with Rick. She tells Merilee that she can do her job, to fight for Rick’s innocence, but she just wants an answer. She reminds Merilee that if Rick is found incompetent, he’ll spend some time in a rehab mentality and likely be released after that Penelope asks Merilee which side she’s on “My own,” she replies

Police have arranged a door-to-door search for Erik through his delivery route and hired Denise and Cassie to help. It’s Cassie who lands on Ronald’s doorstep and appears through the broken door wearing a black baseball hat covering the staple wounds on his forehead and hiding a gun behind the door The exchange is surprisingly normal for Ronald, but when Cassie asks for Helen by name, since she is the name on her newspaper subscription, he tells her that she is is gone and offers to give Cassie’s number to her Cassie gives him her business card and turns to leave As she steps off his porch, she has a moment of recognition, recognizes Ronald’s face from the first visit to Merilee’s shop and realizes that it looks like the trucker’s profile sketch

At the detective agency, Cassie speaks to Denise, who tells her that Ronald Pergman, who also has no ownership of his name, has no online presence. When searching Helen’s social media account, she finds a photo of her son and Jerrie confirmed that he is her former kidnapper Cassie asks Denise to hold Erik’s mother’s hand as she involves the police

Ronald sticks a taser to a stick and goes back downstairs. “I’m out of your reach, but you’re not out of mine,” he says menacingly to Erik and taps the cage twice before the boy pulls his own gun out of the cage throws Ronald going crazy, pushes the cage through the basement and enjoys the fear in Erik’s eyes. The next time we see Ronald, he checks the house and goes back downstairs, lets Erik out of his cage and ties his hands with handcuffs

Cassie and Jenny join Sheriff Tubb and Commander Sosa near Ronald’s house as they review the scheme Cassie and Jenny are represented by Tubb and given bulletproof vests before the trucks and police cars pull into the driveway and armored teams Police surround the house Sheriff Tubb uses a megaphone to tell Ronald to leave the house with his hands over his head, otherwise they will come in

With no response, the police ram through the front door, where a trap pistol shoots the police officer in front of the ram. When the police enter the house, Jenny goes alone into the basement Cassie is the first to smell gasoline and notices that ventilated metal boxes are in Corners make a twinkling noise When the police saw that a trap had been set for them, they evacuated the house Cassie called Jenny on the radio. In the basement, she finds a small person in a blue hoodie tied to a hook on the cement floor. She uses an ax to break the chains and carries the body out just in time for the house to explode remove the hoodie and discover that Helen’s cold body has been tucked into Erik’s hoodie. “That was a distraction,” exclaims Jenny

When Jerrie and Rachel, Erik’s mom, see the live news report, Denise receives a phone call explaining they haven’t found Erik or Ronald Rachel collapses when she hears the police don’t know where they are

Cassie scolds Jenny for being a villain in the house and tells her she won’t be the one to tell her son she won’t be home. While he’s outside, Sheriff Tubb learns that Father Ted Maynord is missed his sermon and his last known place was an appointment with Helen at her house, knowing she’s been dead for some time now. When the police investigate what kind of car the priest drove, Ronald is seen driving the black Tesla and hears “Yummy Yummy Yummy” from The Ohio Express

Rick cites baseball stats in his hospital room from 1967 when the Boston Red Sox won the pennant. Penelope gets his attention: “Now you’re listening to me, she shows him a picture of Ronald and tells him a little memory could go a long way because Ronald is on the run with a captured child. He tells her he doesn’t know him and Merilee watches him tap his fingers again.Penelope asks if Rick has any idea where he could go and if he says no says Merilee that he’s lying “You know, you know,” she says disappointedly. He looks her in the eye and starts quoting baseball stats again

In the office, Denise Jerrie says she probably knows more about Ronald than anyone else. She tells them Ronald had problems with his mother but didn’t think she was a murderer. Rachel is not so convinced “What if he’s desperate ? “She asks nervously

Back at her house, Merilee sits on the floor and looks up at Rick’s Standee as she looks back at more memories. Rick sings in each of them. A lucky one finds him interrupting Merilee at the stove to watch her through the kitchen walzen In another he cuts an apple pie and this time sings “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly” She asks him what’s going on and he says, “I’m fine, mother” She looks confused, maybe it is the first time he used this name on her When we first met Merilee, she asked him not to call her that anymore and seemed annoyed about it

Ronald now sings to himself as he drives: “Someone is in the kitchen with Dinah” He stops, opens the trunk and lets Erik out blindfolded He tells him that if he’s nice he can drive in the front

Sheriff Tubb and Commander Sosa fly to the Tesla in a helicopter, while Cassie and Jenny ride on the ground and communicate with them by radio. By chance, Cassie and Jenny land right behind Father Maynord’s Tesla. The helicopter connects to them from the sky to assist them while calling for the assistance of the police who are 20 minutes away

Merilee returns to Rick’s hospital room and tells him she remembers her marriage. “That’s nice, mother,” he replies. She tells him about the romantic songs he used to sing and how he “existed.” an old lady who swallowed a fly ”sang when he had a problem to solve, and sings it to him with an emphasis on the line“ Maybe she’ll die. Then she speaks to another song that he gave her at a difficult time sang: “If I had a hammer” He remembers the night when he scared her in bed with a hammer in hand and promised to be a new man.She tells him that she knows he thought of killing her that night and the hammer from her purse “I was a problem and this was your problem solver,” she proclaims. “I don’t like your tone, mother,” replies Rick when Merilee starts singing “There was an old lady who swallowed a fly” Who has personalized texts and ends with “Maybe he’ll die” Rick looks alarmed and says, “This is your menopause. And so Merilee knows everything she needs to know.” That’s the wrong answer, Rick, “she says,” Means your memory back is “From outside the hospital room we see Merilee’s silhouette hitting Rick’s head with a hammer while his heart monitor flatlines and a team of nurses run. When they enter, she’s sitting on the bed, her face splattered with blood, Rick’s blood i st all over the pillow and the wall behind him. She sings, “I don’t know why she married the fly “

Cassie tries to drive the Tesla side by side on the two-lane freeway several times to confirm that Erik is in the car.She narrowly avoids an accident, but sees Erik and confirms he lives in the passenger seat on the other On the trail, Jenny wants to shoot one of the tires to force her to stop, but when they get to the driver’s side, they see the dead Father Maynord at the wheel, the car on the autopilot Commander Sosa has the idea that Cassie and Jenny stand in front of it and remember the story of a drunk driver in California who slept behind the wheel of his Tesla and an officer who passed him using the car’s ability to keep distance and pace the car in front of it to bring it to a stop Cassie tries to avoid a severed bumper on the road and almost crashes, but the Tesla stops just in time

Cassie hugs Erik as she pulls him out of the car and tells him he is now safe Jenny asks what happened to Ronald and Erik tells her he saw him climb over the guardrail on the bridge is where he parked the car to drive off He thinks he jumped Sheriff Tubb takes a call and comes over to tell Jenny and Cassie that Rick Legarski is dead. They look disappointed. “Well that’s some kind of justice,” Jenny says to Cassie, “Yeah, not the kind we were looking for, “replies Cassie. The search for Ronald is still ongoing and now you know his name

Erik has a tearful reunion with his mother in Cassie’s and Jenny’s office. Rachel wants to thank them and Cassie hugs her while Jenny shakes her hand and leaves. “She doesn’t want to take out a loan,” says Cassie as she walks in Jenny’s direction looks “The best are never”

Merilee is handcuffed from Rick’s hospital room by cops, followed by a stretcher with her husband in a body bag.The scene dissolves into a memoriam of people who have died so far on the show, showing Helen, Cody, and now Rick

The final shot is a big rig driving down the freeway. In the cabin we find Ronald taking off his black baseball cap. He smiles as he drives

Wow what an episode! It looks like the show will be on another hiatus as ABC hasn’t released any information about the tenth episode yet This is how they first alerted us that there would be a break for the series in December. Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long to get back into the action because I have so many questions. Rick called Merilee “mom”, because she was the mother of her children Where are they and will we meet them given what has just happened? Will Merilee be able to argue out of jail time and will Penelope take her case? There has to be an employer who knows who Ronald is and which truck he drives Can you help Cassie and Jenny track him down? I can’t wait to find the answers to all of these burning questions
