Emi Buendia’s sensational first-time finish was enough for Norwich City to return to winning ways with a 1-0 win over Barnsley
The Canaries dominated most of the encounter and managed to take advantage of one of the numerous chances they had created in the 90 minutes
That happened in the 62 Minute when Buendia shot the ball past the Barnsley goalkeeper after Kenny McLean hit the ball
Daniel Farke welcomed Tim Krul back to the starting eleven instead of the injured Michael McGovern. Ben Gibson also returned to the starting eleven, instead of Christoph Zimmermann, who fell on the bench. Przemyslaw Placheta also returned to the substitute bench
City started well and the final ditch their opponents defended prevented them from taking an early lead The ball was worked on Jacob Sorensen with space in the area, but his shot was fired by Callum Brittain
At the other end, Barnsley had the best chance of half Cauley Woodrow’s shot on goal was deflected off nicely for Luke Thomas in the area, whose hit was fired from the crossbar
Barnsley gained confidence after that opening and began to frustrate City, who had limited chances of their own for the next 15 minutes
The Canaries returned to their groove and dominated again. Teemu Pukki was in the 24 Mario Vrancic played clear on the minute, and he played brilliantly against Barnsley goalkeeper Jack Walton, except that Brittain was able to clear the ball off the line and keep the score
Three minutes later City slumped in numbers and Oliver Skipp found himself in unknown territory on the right side of the box, however hesitating with options in the box and that allowed Barnsley to get men back, in the end Max Aarons found Todd Cantwell overtaking
Barnsley was in 36 Threatened minute by Callum Styles, who shot straight at Krul before Grant Hanley headed a Buendia corner to round off an entertaining first half
City started well in the second half, but they fought in front of goal to deliver a crucial moment. Cantwell scored in the 47 Minute on Pukki, but Walton was there to prevent the Finn from opening the scoring
Then, in the 56 Minute, Pukki crossed Cantwell, who made a miss, but the ball fell friendly to Sorensen, who shot directly at Walton from the far post
In a moment of real quality, however, the Canary Islands took the lead after 63 minutes. Kenny McLean saw Buendia turn his run and the Scot found the Argentine, who for the first time cleverly shot the ball past Walton
The chances for City kept coming up when they wanted to expand their advantage and Pukki in the 70 Minute faced Cantwell selflessly, but he was forced far and finally the danger was gone
Cantwell ended late when Walton was forced to act again after 87 minutes
Barnsley had a big chance in stoppage time but Michal Helik couldn’t distract at the back post when Styles’ cross-cum shot fell on him
