Office star Jenna Fischer had a deep connection with her character Pam Beesly. So deep, in fact, that a Jim and Karen scene felt their inner Pam “broken”

Fischer felt a connection with her character Pam because she had worked in office settings throughout her acting career and had a fair share of mistakes until she got the office role

During Sept. On episode 23, 2020 of the Office Ladies podcast, Fischer explained how her personal experiences affected the way she played the character “I put many of these difficult years into my performance for Pam,” she stated, “I was literally sitting at a reception and dreamed of being an artist I did this I did it for seven years, so I felt Pam’s longing deeply ”

During the Office Ladies podcast from 10 On June 6th, 2020, Fischer and her co-host Angela Kinsey discussed the episode “The Coup” of the series Jim had started working at the company’s Stamford office to get out of Scranton after Pam turned him down

In Stamford, Jim adapted to the new office environment and his employees playing Call of Duty. His office worker Karen was a bit flirtatious with Jim because of his lack of player skills, and the two shared a brief moment of flirtation

“Everyone was very, very, very upset,” Fischer said of the moment as fans had been focused on Jim and Pam getting together, so this new development between Jim and Karen didn’t convince them at first

“Well, I want you to know something that jumps a little bit,” Fischer said during the podcast. “But I just want to say to wrap up this Jim Karen flirting story – you know, in the end, when Jim packs up for the night and Karen watches and he throws the wrong grenade at her. This is now like her first inside joke ”

“That scene wasn’t in the script that was added later,” she continued. “We saw Karen be a little cute on Jim, right? In the scene you’re talking about but they wanted to see Jim give her a bit of Halpert ”

She added, “We wanted a little bit of their way to go and so they added this scene to show that there was a real connection between them, a playfulness if you will”

In the scene, Fischer definitely felt a little sad from Pam’s point of view. During an interview with EW in 2006, she referred to Jim and Karen’s moment and admitted it was “charming” but also heartbreaking. p>

”In [the Oct. 5] Episode, when Jim threw that [fake] grenade and [Karen’s] paper clips flew, it was improvised, ”she explained,“ It was so charming The Pam inside me was heartbroken ”
