The loaned Celtic defender Jack Hendry has been named one of the best defenders in Belgian football by Oostende manager Alexander Blessin

The 25-year-old has not had much luck in recent years after struggling to make an impression at Celtic Park and then sustaining a serious knee injury while playing for Melbourne City in Australia

But now the stopper has received rave reviews after impressing on its one-year loan from the ambitious top Belgian team Oostende

Hendry is a silky, ball-playing center-back who is comfortable with the ball at his feet He blew the German gaffer Blessin with his achievements even though he can’t find out what the three-time stopper with a Scottish cap is saying!

“But his teammates do it because he’s a great defender. He makes the people he plays with the better you can see them listening to him

“Jack is the most important member of the team this season and one of the best defenders in the league

“He is a natural leader and his presence has attracted his key defense partners Arthur Theate and Anton Tanghe

“Their improvement is largely thanks to Jack Hendry, who trains and organizes them during the game. He can defend, is quick and, because of his size, is also a useful weapon in attack

“Obviously when you are signed to a club the size of Celtic at such a young age you must be of many qualities”
