The Prime Minister’s recent announcement has shed some light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel
And with the end in sight, people in Great Britain have already started thinking about planning for the future
In just a few months, the government has shown the possibility that we can finally reunite with loved ones indoors and outdoors – and even see nightclubs reopen by the end of June
With that in mind, many people wonder how the 2021 national holidays will align with Boris Johnson’s exit strategy so we can get the most of the festivities
Fortunately, there are seven public holidays to look forward to for the remainder of the year
And of course there will be two Christmas holidays in December until the end of 2021
We have listed each upcoming holiday below, along with the phase of Johnson’s off-lock roadmap that the date coincides with
On both Easter holidays, Step 1 of Johnson’s roadmap is out of the lockdown, which starts on Aug. March begins, already in place
Outdoor leisure activities between two people – for example, having a coffee or a picnic in the park – are again allowed
We’re also happy to meet outdoors with up to six people or two households and watch outdoor sports facilities reopen Organized sports and travel outside of the region will be allowed again Introduced March
On both public holidays in May, the earliest possible date for step 2 of Johnson’s roadmap has expired
This means that by the 12th April could see the reopening of non-essential retail stores, personal care facilities, outdoor dining and indoor recreational facilities, including gyms and swimming pools
The earliest date that Step 3 could fall on is April 17th May – after the bank holiday in early May, but in time for the spring holiday on 31 May
Six people or two households can meet indoors, and the indoor hospitality and hotels will be open again
Until the August bank holiday, the earliest possible date for step 4 of the government’s roadmap outside of the embargo – May 21 June – expired
In step 4, all legal restrictions on social contact will be lifted and the remaining closed economic sectors will hopefully be reopened
If all goes according to plan on our December holidays, UK residents will be able to enjoy the holiday season with their families as they would have enjoyed before the pandemic
