CHARLESTON, SC. (WCSC) – Charleston County’s Schools Board has selected an option for the 2021-2022 school calendar year

The board of directors chose option A, which means the spring break 2022 in the week of 11 to 15 April Recommends The district also added February 18 as an early release day, switching another release day to Sept. 24

CCSD officials said they plan to return to a normal timetable for the entire school year starting this fall

According to state law, schools usually have to start again in the third week of August However, the start date was extended by three weeks last fall due to the pandemic

Option A recommends that the spring break of 2022 take place on the week of Nov. to 15 This is in connection with the planned spring breaks in the schools of Dorchester School District 2 and Berkeley County

Option B has spring break the following week from Jan. until 22 April Both Option A and Option B have the school year beginning April 2 June ends

At the last board meeting, a member suggested adding more student holidays to the schedule in the spring

However, the CCSD ruled that school would end in the first week of June as parents opposed suggestions in previous years that schools should take more breaks and postpone the end of the year
