Kay Purcell died weeks after being diagnosed with incurable liver cancer at the age of 57

Kay is survived by her three children Ashley, Shemar and Indika as well as her “beautiful” grandson Levon

In a post on her public Facebook page, Kay told fans on Jan. December – the day before her birthday – that she was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer after battling breast cancer

“For the past few months I’ve been feeling uncomfortable, attributing this to my stomach ulcer,” she wrote. “It was so until a few weeks ago that I was in agony and couldn’t handle the pain as a result I was diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer

“But with the treatment I still have up to two years to enjoy my time with my family and friends”

Kay expressed her wish to enjoy “another glass of rum” and enjoy life to the fullest

“In exactly two years I’ll be 60, with every will in the world I will fight for my 60 Birthday and I’ll have another glass of rum with all of you, “she wrote, assuring fans that she would be safe to read her messages

“Can you all try to stay as happy and positive for me as you can for me?”

“It is with great regret that we announce the death of Kay Purcell at the age of 57,” wrote her agent, David Daly Associates

“Kay was a very valued customer who has been represented by David Daly Associates for many years We send sympathy and love to her family and friends”

Kay played Cynthia Daggert in Emmerdale from 2001 to 2002 and appeared in 187 episodes. Before that, she appeared as another recurring character named Carmel Morgan in 1996 and 1998

The actress also starred as Gina Conway on the kids’ show Tracy Beaker Returns and the spin-off series The Dumping Ground
