The space is always full. In addition to the Artemis of NASA and the Chinese Tianwen-1, private space travel is – finally – almost there. In the past without science fiction, people without formal astronaut training can soon get a ticket for a space shuttle and fly into space just like we buy a seat on an airplane today
Five missions are scheduled to take place over the next six years that will forever change the way we travel
Everything you need to know about these upcoming missions is here, including when to take place, where they will go, and, perhaps most importantly, who will travel into space with them
Tom Cruise and director Doug Liman, who previously worked with Cruise on the film Edge of Tomorrow, are due to travel into space with the vice president of the private space company Axiom Space (and former NASA astronauts) – to the International Space Station) Michael López -Alegría
Cruise was previously associated with López-Alegría’s company Axiom. Axiom wants to build commercial module add-ons for the space station
How exactly Cruise gets to the space station is unclear, but we have clues.A report in NME suggested that Cruise will be part of a crew going into space aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon shuttle, which seems to be on one Tweet from September 2020 of a Twitter account called “@SpaceShuttleAlmanac” based on “
Fitting to his action hero status, Cruise will reportedly make a movie in space.Which movie Cruise will make in space is unclear, but it won’t be related to his popular Mission: Impossible franchise
According to reports, the cruise mission could start to the International Space Station as early as October 2021, a timeline similar to Inspiration4, another private space mission (and number four on this list)
The only known crew member on Inspiration4 at the time of writing is Jared Isaacman, who holds the dual title of Commander and Benefactor on this private space mission
Isaacman is a billionaire and founder of payment technology company Shift4. He is also a jet pilot
The other crew members have yet to be announced, but as announced in the Super Bowl earlier this month, the competition for two of the seats is open
A seat on this shuttle goes to someone who is associated with St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, however, the other two seats are open to the public
One of these places is won by a person who works at St. Judas or has a connection to the hospital
The other seat is won by an entrepreneur who uses Shift4Shop, Shift4’s website builder, to start a business
This mission is chartered with SpaceX by Elon Musk. Inspiration4 will fly on a Falcon 9 rocket and the crew will be comfortable in the Space Company’s Crew Dragon capsule
According to the Inspiration4 website, the shipload will be carrying out scientific research dedicated to microgravity research and experimentation ”
The website also promises “experiments designed to expand our knowledge of the universe”, but it doesn’t get more specific
So far, only astronauts who are in contact with state space agencies have traveled to the International Space Station. But soon private individuals will also be visiting
The first private flight to the International Space Station will include Axiom’s Vice President Michael López-Alegría as commander, American entrepreneur Larry Connor as pilot, Canadian investor Mark Pathy and financier Eytan Stibbe from Israel
As a former NASA astronaut with over 250 days in space, López-Alegría is perhaps the most experienced of the four.Former NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson was also named as the backup commander for the mission, and similarly to John Shoffner, an entrepreneur and pilot like Isaacman, is the backup pilot
Again, SpaceX wins the day AX-1 will fly with a Falcon 9 rocket and its crew will be in a Crew Dragon capsule again
AX1 crew members will conduct a series of scientific experiments in space aboard the International Space Station
For example, Connor will “work on research projects” with the Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, according to a report in the Washington Post. Connor will also communicate with students on Earth attending the Dayton Early College Academy, a Grade 7 school -12
Pathy is working with the Canadian Space Agency and Montreal Children’s Hospital to identify health-related research projects that it could conduct in space, according to the report
Stibbe plans to “conduct scientific experiments” and “conduct educational activities for Israeli youth,” in collaboration with Israeli researchers, the report said
The #earMoon project is an brainchild of Japanese billionaire Yusaku Maezawa According to Forbes, Maezawa is worth about $ 2 billion
No other flight members have been announced other than Maezawa, but Maezawa has pervertedly said he wants to go to the moon with artists Maezawa is an art collector
The mission’s website suggests that a painter, musician, film director, and fashion designer join Maezawa Maezawa stunned director Damien Chazelle during an interview on Chazelle’s 2018 film about Apollo 11, First Man Chazelle promised to discuss the invitation with his wife, but his involvement is not confirmed
For a brief moment, Maezawa seemed to suggest that his girlfriend would come on the trip, but that idea has reportedly been taken off the table
You guessed it, Maezawa paid SpaceX an undisclosed amount to become the first private tourist to fly around the moon
The artists on board the #earMoon project will use the trip as artistic inspiration for an exhibition on Earth, according to Maezawa
It is believed that these artists will create a range of works based on their journey, although this is unclear
#dearMoon plans to launch in 2023, though the schedule will depend on the development of Musk’s starship, which has not yet been tested
Space Hero is a scheduled reality TV show in which the winner will receive a ticket to fly to the International Space Station. The TV show was originally touted by Deadline. Participants in the show will have to face a number of challenges in order to see who wins the competition – and supposedly fire a rocket, according to the report
The participants are unknown, but the media company behind the show, helpfully dubbed Space Hero, has reported that they will be civilians with a passion for space but without formal astronaut training
Please visit the company’s Instagram page for information on how to apply for the show
The company has reportedly secured a seat on board a 2023 flight to the International Space Station
This flight is believed to be aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, although this has not been confirmed
According to the Deadline, the Space Hero winner will have their work cut out for them. Before they take off, the Space Hero must face a series of challenges to test their “physical, mental and emotional strength” ”
The idea is that audiences around the world vote on their favorite candidate and an eventual winner is selected
Marty Pompadur, the head of Space Hero Inc, said in a statement that the show aims to “reinvent the reality television category by creating a multi-channel experience that brings the greatest value to the largest possible audience all the time offers ”
The prize is apparently a 10-day stay aboard the International Space Station. According to the report, the company is “in discussion” with NASA about possible educational elements of the trip
According to their social media, Space Hero, the earthbound TV show, will launch in 2021, but an exact date has not been set
If ratings hold, Space Hero winner will appear to be taking off on a scheduled date in 2023
