The Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback who became a Mets Minor Leaguer has finished his unlikely two-athlete run

Tim Tebow, the superstar college quarterback, ended one of the more surprising – and unlikely – attempts at a two-sport career and became NF.L. Curiosity became a minor league baseball player, announcing his retirement from professional sport on Wednesday

“I loved every minute of the trip, but at this point I feel called in other directions,” said Tebow in a statement from the Mets, which signed him to a minor league deal in 2016. “I never want to partially participate I always want to be 100 percent in whatever I choose ”

While Tebow never went above AAA grade in baseball, his achievements on the soccer field and charitable endeavor made him widely recognized, author of several books and missionary work around the world, but he was often polarized, and fans of both sports were regular disagreed about his worth and potential as well as his openness as a Christian. But wherever he went, Tebow drew a lot

I never want to partially participate. I always want to be 100% in what I choose. Thanks again for everyone’s support for this great journey in baseball I will always treasure my time as a mead! #LGM

“It was a pleasure to have Tim in our organization as he was an absolute pro during his four years with the Mets,” said Sandy Alderson, President of the Mets. “When he reached Triple A in 2019 , he far exceeded expectations when he first joined the system in 2016 and should be very proud of his accomplishments ”

The 33-year-old Tebow showed enormous athleticism at every stage of his journey, but after an outstanding career in Florida, in which he won the Heisman Trophy and two national championships in 2007, he never found the right fit for his job

As the Denver Broncos’ first pick in 2010, he strove to embody his run-heavy approach to playing quarterback work in the N.F.L.but managed a surprise finish to the 2011 season after playing 7-4 as a starter, shocking the sport by leading the Broncos to a Pittsburgh Steelers surprise in the wildcard round of the playoffs
This success was short-lived, however, as it was sold to the Jets before the next season. After getting too much fanfare, he threw just eight passes for the Jets in two games and was released attempts with the New Getting in touch with England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles was going nowhere

A year after his release by the Eagles in 2015, Tebow, who hadn’t played organized baseball since his junior year in high school, was signed by the Mets.

“That decision was made entirely by baseball,” Alderson insisted at the time of the signing. “This was not due to marketing considerations or anything like that,”

Tebow hit his first professional attack but hit a total of 223 in four seasons with 18 home runs in 2019, beating 163 with four homers for Class AAA Syracuse

In announcing his retirement, he paid tribute to the Mets fans who had chosen him to join the ranks of Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders, athletes who peaked in both football and baseball

“Thank you again for everyone’s support for this great baseball journey,” he said, “I will always cherish my time as the Met”
