NBC has confirmed the comedy series starring Andy Samberg will end in the upcoming eighth season, but it will take longer than expected (via TVLine)

The Peacock Network has postponed Brooklyn nine-nine to the next television season – which is slated to begin in Fall 2021. This will be a shortened run of just 10 episodes

Executive producer Dan Goor announced, “I’m so grateful to NBC and Universal Television for giving these characters and our fans the ending they deserve. When Mike Schur and I did the pilot for Andy [Samberg] for the first time presented, he said, “I’m in, but I think the only way to tell this story is through exactly 153 episodes”That was crazy because that was exactly Number Mike and I had introduced ourselves

“I’m incredibly happy to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. Not only are they the most talented people in the business, they’re all good people who have become families. Most of all, I’m happy that we had the best fans in the world fans who literally saved us from being canceled

“Fans who fill us with joy. Finishing the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed for it to end so soon, but honestly I’m grateful it took me so long to title my sex video “

This isn’t the first time Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been canceled, NBC already recorded the show when it was dropped from its original home, Fox, in 2018

While it will be a few months before viewers see the final episodes, Andy Samberg has previously confirmed that the show will address issues related to police reform
