CNN host Chris Cuomo addressed the sexual harassment allegations against his brother, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Monday night, saying he “obviously” couldn’t cover the story

At the start of the “Cuomo Prime Time” show on Monday, the journalist said that due to the conflict of interest, he would not cover the story

“You’re right with me, I’m right with you,” Cuomo said to his audience “Obviously I know what’s going on with my brother and of course I can’t cover it because he’s my brother”

“Now, of course, CNN has to report about it,” he continued. “They have covered it extensively and will continue to do so. I have always dealt very intensely with these topics, and I just wanted to tell you that there are too lots of news that are important so let’s come after that “

CNN allowed the Cuomo brothers to joke on the air several times last spring at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States – When New York was the epicenter and the journalist caught the virus since joining the network in 2013, Cuomo had been prevented from telling stories about his brother

“The first few months of the pandemic crisis were an extraordinary time,” a CNN spokesperson told Entertainment Tonight. “We felt like Chris, speaking with his brother about the challenges facing millions of American families, Was of significant human interest as a result, we made an exception to a rule we’ve had since 2013 that prevents Chris from interviewing and covering his brother, and that rule continues to this day, and CNN has extensive coverage of the governor’s news Cuomo reports “

Governor Cuomo accused of sexually inappropriating three women. Harassment allegations by two women, former aides to Cuomo, led New York Attorney General Letitia James to open an investigation and the governor is urged to resign

“I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal,” he said, “Some of the things I said were misunderstood as unwanted flirting. As far as someone has felt this way, I’m really sorry”

At the same time, the FBI and federal prosecutors in Brooklyn have launched an investigation into how the Cuomo government handled nursing home residents who contracted COVID-19 during the early months of the pandemic
