DETROIT – – The Brooklyn Networks are facing a challenge while Kevin Durant is down

Jerami Grant hit a career high with 32 points and the Detroit Pistons took advantage of Durant’s absence on Tuesday night to beat the Brooklyn Nets 122-111

It was the third consecutive loss for the networks to go without Durant due to coronavirus protocols, which won’t be able to return until later this week

Coach Steve Nash was not satisfied with the reaction of his team on Tuesday, especially at the beginning Brooklyn fell 20 points behind the last piston in the second quarter

“This is professional sport. The other team is talented and capable and we are understaffed,” said Nash. “We still have a lot to clean up. The most important thing is this attitude and this level of competition and this connectivity”

Detroit lost four games and displayed the same kind of spirit that was shown in its previous game, a loss in Los Angeles to defending champions Lakers

“I like our foundation I like the pieces we have,” said piston trainer Dwane Casey. “We’re not a finished product, we just have to grow and bring the pieces together”

The Nets had no loss to Durant and Kyrie Irving (right finger sprain) Saturday night to Philadelphia. Irving returned against Detroit, scoring 27 points

James Harden added 24 for Brooklyn, but it wasn’t enough for the Nets to get over a bad start. The Butts shot 667% off the field in the first quarter and led by 12 at the end of the period. The lead hit 20 in the Second

“We look very average and have the talent that the eye test shows that we should dominate,” said Irving. “We are dealing with a lot of the reality of putting this together on the fly”

Brooklyn rose to two in the third, but a 3-pointer from Grant gave the Pistons a 94-86 lead by the end of that quarter, and Detroit held up

Piston newcomer Saddiq Bey scored all of his 15 points in the closing stages and made all six of his attempts from the field

Durant was removed from the starting line-up on Friday and then released to play before being drawn in the third quarter of a loss to Toronto since then he’s missed two full games

It’s been a difficult time for the nets, but many other teams have also faced periods of uncertainty this season

Nets: Irving and former Piston Bruce Brown were called upon for technical fouls in the third quarter Brooklyn signed F Noah Vonleh on Monday. He played a bit against Detroit but didn’t score

Detroit only has six wins this season but the last three were against the 76ers, Lakers and Nets – three good teams they were without key players, however: Philadelphia missed Joel Embiid, Los Angeles was without Anthony Davis and Brooklyn had no Durant

This was Detroit’s first game since it was acquired by Dennis Smith Jr from New York in a deal that sent Derrick Rose to the Knicks Smith couldn’t play Tuesday due to health and safety protocols. Casey said Smith was still in quarantine but he hoped Smith could be part of practice on Wednesday >
