From the team that brought us Bob’s burger comes another fun and heartwarming animated series called The Great North. While the latest animated series on Fox did not officially premiere until February, Fox offered viewers last night alongside their new sitcom Call Me Kat after the NFL on Fox Doubleheader a little glimpse of the two new shows, The Great North is sure to be the superior option

This new series follows another eccentric family, this time led by Nick Offerman’s character Beef Tobin. The Tobin family lives in Alaska and Beef is committed to keeping his children close. The first episode revolves around the conflict between Judy ( Jenny Slate) and her father after getting a job behind his back at the local mall

Based on the first episode alone, it looks like The Great North will be another surefire hit for Fox The network seems to agree, as it’s already been renewed for a second season! If you like Bob’s Burgers and Central Park it’s almost certain that you will enjoy this series too

With a stronger start than Bob’s Burger, this new show already feels grounded and as if the characters are well defined. That means, as is often the case with pilot episodes, especially for comedies, the show is going to take a little work to get around Finding the character dynamics and using their attitude to make sure it is different enough from Bob’s Burgers without just feeling like a similar story in a different place

But considering how strong the ensemble is, I have no doubt that it will find its way in the first season. Besides Offerman and Slate, the comedy also features Will Forte, Dulcé Sloan, Paul Rust, Aparna Nancherla To see Megan Mullally and Alanis Morissette
